GOMBAK, 12 October 2023: Malam Cerekarama CiTRA held two performances on the theme of companionship, by the IIUM Film and Creative Production Club and the IIUM Theatre Club on Thursday night (12 October 2023) in IIUM.
The short film “Temu” by the IIUM Film and Creative Production Club highlighted the message of everlasting friendship with the concepts of contentment and tawakkal on uncontrollable things.
Film director, Muhammad Hakimi Zarimi emphasised in an interview with IIUMToday that ” ‘Temu’ is based on the message of life goes on despite the hurdles in life.”
“It is crucial to be content with the things we cannot control and focus on the things we can,” Hakimi added.
When asked about the aspirations of “Temu” towards first-year and final-year students on new adventures, Hakimi hoped that “‘Temu’ enriches the students who have just come in and left university to appreciate the people they have encountered and are still encountering.”
Similarly, the theater performance “Tu, Jaga!” by the IIUM Theatre Club promoted the values of strong companionship and self-awareness as inspired by the Korean drama “Reply 1988”.
“‘Tu, Jaga!’ as inspired by ‘Reply 1988’ aims to instill self-awareness of each character whilst maintaining a strong bond with others,” highlighted Nurul Nabilah Kamalul Baharin, the theater director.
Nurul shared that “Tu, Jaga!” is also based on the concept of Hasbunallahu wa ni mal Wakil.
“We can always forgive and forget, but it is truly Allah SWT that we rely on and repent to, hence it’s important to appreciate Allah SWT for the companionships we have; the good and the bad.” she added.
In their closing remarks, both Hakimi and Nurul expressed their biggest gratitude to their own production teams for the success, as well as the audiences and CiTRA for providing them with the platform to show their performances.
“I hope the audience gains sentimental values,and I would also like to take this chance to thank my team for making our perfomance a reality,” Nurul shared.
“May we continue striving – for creativity inspires change,” hoped Hakimi for both IIUM Film and Creative Production Club and IIUM Theatre Club. ***
