GOMBAK, 26 November 2023: Amidst the evolving trends in technology and disparities in society, IIUM graduates are equipped with knowledge and wisdom as empowering tools.
A member of the IIUM Board of Governors, His Excellency Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin highlighted this in his speech in the third session of the 39th IIUM Convocation Ceremony that commemorated 474 graduands from the Kulliyyah of Education (KOED) and Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology (KICT).
His Excellency Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee noted that alongside knowledge and wisdom, life lessons will prepare the graduands for challenges faced post-graduation while embracing the concept of weaving the lessons learned with moral and ethical values.
œAs graduates who have completed and gained fundamental and specialized knowledge in your respective areas coupled with Islamic and moral values, you are now ready to serve the communities and industries you choose, he said.
He further emphasized that such lessons will be a lifelong learning journey for the graduands upon embarking on their next chapter in life whereby, œmany of these lessons are not taught in universities.
The graduands were also reminded to have faith in their abilities, to be confident in their strengths, and to be willing to take risks and learn from inevitable mistakes in the future.
Two major takeaways were mentioned by His Excellency Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee as he hoped the graduands would undertake them, œOne, remember to always do the right thing, and two; always give your very best in whatever you decide to do.
He also took the opportunity to convey his gratitude to the graduands parents for their trust and support in their investment in education, and the universitys utmost appreciation to the Convocation Ceremony committee who have worked tirelessly to make this event a success.
