GOMBAK, 14 March 2025: The TESL Students’ Association of the Kulliyyah of Education, in collaboration with the Uniform Bodies Unit (FOB), proudly hosted a successful Grand Tarbiah Talk 2.0 on 14 March 2025, at the Main Auditorium of IIUM. The esteemed guest, Ustaz Jafri Mahmoodi, delivered a powerful and enlightening insights on “Youth vs Desires: The Ultimate Jihad – Battling the Inner Struggle. It was a meaningful event held alongside the commencement of last year’s Grand Tarbiah Talk.
The event began with remarks by Dr. Haziqah Zulaikha, followed by a speech delivered by the Deputy Rector of Student Development and Community Engagement, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Fauzan Bin Noordin. Ustaz Jafri Mahmoodi began his talk by emphasising on the importance of understanding our enemies before going into battle. The enemies here referred to Al-Nafs, Shaytan, and Al-Dunya, the main rival of Muslims. The ustaz asserted that we must develop a strategic plan to conquer nafs effectively. Additionally, he stated that the weapon of the nafs is sleep, while its prison is Qiyamullail, waking up at night to perform voluntary prayers before Fajr.
“When we are younger, we act based on what we see and what we hear around us, as we grow up our knowledge determines our actions,” He went on to explain how information and environment can be used to exert control over nafs. He also suggested that we should not display any of the sins that we had committed for the purpose of publicity.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, followed by a group photography session with participants.”***
