This is exactly what happened at the recent Gombak Food Festival 2.0 at Riverside, IIUM Gombak, where the environment was rich with culinary promise and such inviting aroma that made the stomach rumbles. However, it was not the usual heavy meals, but instead something even more comforting and trendy up to this day: the freshly baked cookies sold by KUKII. Although soft cookies are not something considered new in the market nowadays, KUKII managed to capture the hearts of many! This is probably because of the ability of portraying different approach in attracting the Gen-Z customers with their trendy choice of flavours and even the aesthetic set-up of their booth! Very ‘Instagram-able’.
What Makes KUKII Special?
Most people wonder what makes KUKII so appealing even from the distance? Well, certainly it is not just because of the sweet scent, but the selling price itself that is so affordable and student friendly! ‘’It’s mostly on the price wise where our cookies’ are cheaper despite using premium ingredients,’’ said owner of KUKII, known as Haslinda. Just like any other businesses, KUKII also has its own best-selling products which is the classic chocolate chip cookie. There is nothing could go wrong with chocolate, right? However, according to Haslinda, she noticed that most students from Gombak Food Festival 2.0 prefers the matcha flavor cookie; most probably because of its current trend of being the favourite among the younger generation.

Haslinda has future plans that she would like to open a physical store one day. However, the only focus now is to reach more people online and build a strong connection with customers. Sales can be unpredictable because some days are great, others are quiet especially if the weather isn’t on our side at outdoor pop ups. Running a business is not always easy because Haslinda and her mother will do everything to survive. Also, she struggles to balance between her studies and business.
Unforgettable Experience
The crowd, the friendly vendors and friendly organizers were the most enjoyable moments during the festival. This was where they got to connect with people and got the chance to interact with customers. “It is fun when our customers give compliments and feedback on our cookies that gives us strength and motivates us to continue the business although its tiring and hard sometimes,” said Haslinda.
“Even on tough days, there is incredible support from our customers and fans,” she said. The kind words, compliments and prayers are what motivates her to improve and strive for the best quality soft cookies.
