Be Better, Do Better: TESLA Annual General Meeting 24/25

GOMBAK, 5 December 2025: The TESL Students’ Association (TESLA) organised the Annual General Meeting for the 24/25 lineup from 8.00 AM to 11.00 AM, held at Lecture Theatre 2, Kulliyyah of Education (KOED). It focused on presenting about the tenure of 24/25 performance and appointing the new line-up 25/26 for TESLA student society. 

Starting with the word of appreciation from President of TESLA 24/25, Nurshakila Binti Tuwim, giving a speech on recognition of TESLA 24/25 line-up for their dedication behind the scenes for every programme they have done along period of time.

Emphasising on unity, resilience, and shared determination to navigate challenges and celebrate successes, she considered their journey of the tenure as a “blue sea” that looked calm and a single boat representing the TESLA society sailing together. 

Coming along after that speech given by the Advisor of TESLA, Asst. Prof. Dr. Haziqah Zulaikha where she focuses on the spirituality aspect from all programmes that TESLA society have been doing along the tenure.

“Do everything sincerely. Do something that can help people,” said Asst. Prof. Dr. Haziqah Zulaikha.

Giving out guidance for the future line-up 25/26, for the first one on leadership principles where they should know their goal and purposes which is to fulfill amanah and keep promises to both Allah and the community.

Moreover, on personal development which balances hard work with spiritual dedication. Make sure they view setbacks as opportunities for growth by relying on support from advisors and peers. Then last but not least, community vision by mentioning to treat TESLA as a family, not just an association. 

Moving on to the program overview where they represent their major, minor, and upcoming programmes. The Secretary 1 of TESLA 24/25, Nur Syamimi Binti Shahrulnizam presented first on the nine major programmes which are:

1. Grand Tarbiah Talk 2.0
2. TESLSpire: Elderly Care Community Service
3. Fit Together: TESL Wellness
4. TESLAXPLORE: INTERVARSITY EXCHANGE collaboration with University Malaya English Teachers Society (UMETS)
5. TESL Familia Fiesta 2.0
6. Art Therapy: Healing Through Art

Their minor programmes are Iftar Distribution with 300 packs of food that will be given out to the IIUM community. Then, The Department of Language and Literacy (DLL) Raya Celebration with Teaching of English as a Second Language (TESL), Teaching of Arabic as a Second Language (TASL), DD and postgraduates communities.

Furthermore, their upcoming program is TESL Night ‘25: Night Of Remembrance on 12 December 2025 (Friday).

For the financial report presented by Financial Controller 1 24/25, Nursyahida Nadia, she presented on the positive net profit in both semesters proving financial growth and effective budgeting. They have generated RM4,330.26 from all the programmes and merchandise.***
