National Cat Show and Exhibition 2.0 Launches at IIUM

GOMBAK, 11 December 2025: The National Cat Show and Exhibition 2.0 was officially launched today during the press conference organised by the Abu Hurairah Club of IIUM.

The press conference highlighted the special participation of Her Royal Highness the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Almarhum Sultan Iskandar Al-Hajj and the Rector of IIUM, Prof. Emeritus Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar, who will participate in the closing ceremony of the event. 

This national-level event will take place on 13 and 14 December 2025 at the Banquet Hall, IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC). It is estimated that 2,000 visitors from across Malaysia will join this event, which is aimed at families, cat lovers, and pet enthusiasts, as well as IIUM students and staff. 

Among the highlights of the event are three main competitions: the Cat Competition, the Painting Contest, and the Kitty Fancy Dress. 

Besides that, this year’s programme will also feature a cat exhibition, organised by the Kelab Kucing Malaysia (KKM). Forty different cats of many different breeds such as British Shorthair and Maine Coon will be featured at the event.

“There are talk sessions, tazkirah, exotic mini animal zoo, and not to forget there are many charity sales and booths that will be opening on the day,” explained the President of Abu Hurairah Club 24/25, Asma Nidaei binti Yusri.

The event, in collaboration with and sponsored by the Vet For You Clinic, will offer 200 free cat vaccinations for those who wished to vaccinate their pets. 

Also, cat adoption involving 15-20 cats will take place at the event.

The Programme Manager of the National Cat Show 2.0, Muhamad Khidir bin Apandi explained that the cats were previously stray and sick and were rescued. 

This event aims to educate the public about caring for and loving cats and animals, and to inspire them to rescue and provide proper care for these animals, promoting rahmatan lil ‘alamin — mercy and compassion for all creatures.***
