“Malam Pentas Larasuka”: A Grand Concert to Liven Up Tradition

GOMBAK, 17 December 2025: The Centre for Arts and Cultural Sustainable Development (CiTRA) of the IIUM announced the grand concert “Malam Pentas Larasuka” during a press conference today.

The press conference was organised by the students of COMM 3317: Corporate Writing and took place at the Seminar Room, IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC).

The grand concert will be held in conjunction with the CiTRA Open Day 2025 on 24 December 2025, at the Main Hall ICC, IIUM.

Emile Wildan bin Izhar, the Programme Manager of CiTRA Open Day, said that the theme that was chosen was “Lagenda Karya Musika“. 

This theme was inspired by the idea of storytelling through music that blends tradition with a sense of fantasy.

He also highlighted that the main objective of this grand concert is to break the stigma people have towards traditional music. 

The venture of traditional and contemporary arts of music is hoped to prove the capability of traditional music in mesmerising audiences. 

In this concert, nine performances will be featured:

• IIUM Gamelan Gema Bangsa
• IIUM Angklung Club
• IIUM Acoustic Band
• IIUM Percussion Club
• IIUM Andeka Caklempong
• IIUM Sutra Pawana Dikir Barat Club
• IIUM Simfoni Arkana Club
• IIUM Nafastari Dance Club 
• IIUM Malay Language and Literature Club

This year, new dance choreography will also be introduced and performed by the IIUM Nafastari Dance Club. 

Meanwhile, the IIUM Malay Language and Literature Club (MALLIC / KBPM) will feature skits which are a new segment that has never been performed before in previous CiTRA events.
