GOMBAK, 27 November 2023: Recent AIKOL graduate, Ainul Mardhiyyah Binti Roslan, was the former Legal Affairs Officer for IIUM Student Union (SU), in the 2022/2023 academic year. She claimed that she was keeping a close eye on SU after her tenure with the hope that it would maintain its good legacy like in previous years.

Ainul graduated from AIKOL and is pursuing her second degree in Syariah. She obtained her scroll in the fifth session of the 39th IIUM Convocation Ceremony on Monday afternoon (27 November 2023), at IIUM Gombak.

She expressed her hope that the new Legal Affairs Officers of SU, Muhammad Khairil Anwar bin Mohammad, and Muhammad Al-Fateh bin Azmi, continue working hard in strengthening the legality and legal concerns that arise for SU.

“There is a lot of work that should be done to strengthen the foundation of the Student Union, I know that the current office bearers are doing a good job and hope that in the next tenure, the Office of Legal affairs would be filled with more students who have passion and credibility,” she added.

When asked about the arising competition in the legal field she mentioned, “The legal field is a competitive field.” From her perspective, after joining several societies and currently the NGO, the Good Society Malaysia, she hoped after five to ten years on the road she will get to use her law degree not as a lawyer but to help more people formally and informally.

“There should be nothing setting you back, your life will be more colourful and gain more meaning when you join activities,” Ainul shared.

The art of being strong and kind was taught by Ainul’s mother, “My mother has shown by example how to be strong, be kind, be gentle and how not to fall in the face of hardship and to have many friends from different Kulliyyahs and join many activities and clubs and by meeting people, it keeps me going.”

Her passion appears to be found in her involvement of many co-curricular activities. “There was so much (to do) apart from the Kulliyyah (academic aspect) but the most important thing is to graduate,” she concluded her interview.***
