Final session of 40th IIUM Convocation celebrates 605 PG diploma and bachelor degree graduands

Gombak, 8 December 2024: The ninth and final session of the 40th IIUM Convocation celebrated the accomplishments of 605 postgraduate diploma and bachelor degree graduands from the Kulliyyah of Science, Kulliyyah of Nursing, Centre of Islamisation, Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance and Academy of Graduate and Professional Studies, on 20 November at IIUM Gombak.

The ceremony commenced with the singing of Malaysia’s national anthem, ‘Negaraku’ followed by the opening declaration and convocation address from IIUM Rector, Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar.

In his speech, he stated that he was particularly mindful of the responsibility that IIUM holds in the world of education. IIUM seeks to blend tradition and with modernity as well as integrate faith with reason and combine intellect with character. He encouraged all graduands to continue seeking knowledge as it is jihad. He reminded graduands of their responsibility as alumni that they are ambassadors of the IIUM mission, vision and values. 

Towards the end of his speech he stated, “ingatlah kita mungkin tidak mampu mengubah seluruh dunia, tapi kita mampu mengubah dunia kecil kita, perubahan bermula dari diri kita semua dan perubahan kecil jika dilakukan secara istiqamah pasti akan memberi impak kepada kehidupan kita”.

In the session, a total of seventeen graduates received the Kulliyyah awards. They were:

Kulliyyah of Science (KOS):

  • Nurhidayu Binti Ishak: Abdullah Ibnu Ummi Maktum Special Achievement Award 
  • Muhammad Adam Hafidz Bin Mustafa: Best Overall Student 
  • Muhammad Ehsan Bin Mohd Hamzah: Best Academic Student 
  • Idris Bin Hud: Best Co-Curricular Student 

Kulliyyah of Nursing (KON): 

  • Farhana Binti Norddin: Post Basic in Nursing Certificate (Critical Care)
  • Nurul Syafiqah Binti Mohd Dhari: Post Basic in Nursing Certificate (Emergency Care)
  • Pravena A/P Thavamani: Post Basic in Nursing Certificate (Peri-Operative Care)

IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance:
