GOMBAK, 16 November 2023: The Secretariat of Political Science (POSSA) takes Asia’s diversity to life through an exhibition showcasing distinctive cultural significance at the HS Square, IIUM Gombak which lasts for three days from 14 to 16 November.

The event is connected to the essence of “fostering unity” as it acknowledges the richness of Asia’s culture for local and international students to immerse and participate in.

“The event aims to ‘bridge the gap’ between local and international students as well as to cultivate inclusiveness between the two as it is salient to build a more unified campus environment,” expressed the event manager, Muhammad Eirfan Hakimi bin Shukri.

Varying from scattered regions around Asia, the exhibition vividly captures the splashes of colours of Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia, particularly Sabah and Sarawak.

Besides that, each booth represents a region offering interesting content for the audience to take part in like traditional games, foods, celebrations, as well as quizzes, and many other inputs that help the audience know better about Asia.

Traditional sports like Silat and Taekwondo also take the spotlight, allowing the audience to try and feel for themselves their intricacy and uniqueness. Taekwondo and Silat, including Pencak Silat, Silat Olahraga, and Silat Seni are showcased complete with their equipment.

In asking about the expectations of this event, Eirfan hopes this event is able to open a window to unity and inclusivity as well as to appreciate each other’s cultural specifics and he hopes to see more events like this in the future.

On top of that, a Drop-Mic session is also organised where the audience gets to see the inter-Kulliyyah debate between the alumni of Political Science and Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) of the IIUM.

The Drop-Mic session will be held tonight at the Moot Court AKOL from 8 pm to 10:45 pm.

The event is a collaboration with IIUM FM, IIUM TV, and IIUM Today.***
