GOMBAK, 15 December 2023: The students of IIUM Gombak witnessed the opening of the popular South Korean convenience store, CU, today which is located strategically at the mosque square, which is at the heart of the campus.
CU is no stranger among students as its stores have spread all over Malaysia and is in competition with FamilyMart which used to be a popular Japanese convenience store, but CU has overshadowed it among Malaysian customers.
This hip convenience store sells various items ranging from ready-to-eat meals, hot foods, exclusive Korean snacks and drinks to everyday essentials at affordable prices, making it a œone-spot-destination for all students needs.
Undoubtedly, this convenience store is a must-visit for students who would like to taste the exquisiteness of Korean delight as the store intends to expose its customers to the South Korean experience.
Some of the delights offered by CU include sausages, Korean rice cake (tteokbokki), Korean fried chicken (dak gang jeong), noodles, hot toast, and many more!
Moreover, CU at IIUM also provides a space to unwind near the right staircase of the mosque under the Mini Auditorium, making it a perfect nook for students to mingle together and catch up in between classes while eating tteokbokki and dak gang jeong.
Additionally, although CU is a South Korean convenience chain, it operates in Malaysia under MyNews Holdings Bhd, and has a licensing agreement with BGF Retail which runs the chain in South Korea, according to The Edge Malaysia.
Afraid not, according to CU Malaysia, all the foods are freshly made from the local MyNews Food Processing Centre which is Halal certified.***
