IIUM graduands’ role is imperative as future leaders, says BOG member, H.E. Mr. Ragai

GOMBAK, 28 November 2023: œYour role in this interconnected world is imperative, as future leaders in law, nursing, pharmacy and allied health sciences, said a member of the IIUM Board of Governors (BOG), His Excellency Mr. Ragai Tawfik Said Nasr to graduands in the fifth session of the 39th IIUM Convocation Ceremony, yesterday (27 November).

He drew inspiration from the teaching of Islam, that encourages its believers to seek knowledge, cultivate bonds, embody the value of working towards the greater good and enforce an environment where diversity is celebrated.

He reminded the law graduands who will become future lawyers, to remember the profound impact on the lives of individuals and society as a whole. œUse your legal expertise to advocate for justice, fairness, and protection of fundamental rights, he advised.

He also advised pharmacy graduands to be mindful of the vital role that they play in improving health outcomes and enhancing the well-being of the community once entering the pharmaceutical landscape.

As for nursing graduands, he highlighted that their education in healthcare is a beacon of hope and health. Thus, he encouraged them to embrace the challenges that come with the noble profession, as they can have an impact on individuals and their families.

œYour research, discovery and innovations have the potential to shape our future which can address global challenges and improve the quality of life of the people around the world, he said towards allied health sciences graduands.

As education has equipped the graduands with tools to navigate the complexity of the global landscape, he also implored them to use this knowledge to build bridges, promote understanding and contribute to the well-being of the community.

His Excellency Mr. Ragai expressed his deepest admiration of the graduands for the journey that they had undertaken and in overcoming challenges which had transformed them into remarkable individuals today.

œI hope in the new chapter of your life, you will carry the spirit of the International Islamic University Malaysia with you that is a spirit of curiosity, integrity and commitment to making a positive impact on the world, he said before ending his speech.***
