IIUM Da’wah Council declares support for Palestine

GOMBAK, 25 October 2023: In conjunction with raising awareness and showing unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, the IIUM Da’wah Council (IDC), together with several student clubs in the university, conducted a press conference in collaboration with the non-governmental organisation, Friends of Palestine, on 13 October 2023.

IIUM Da’wah Council together with Dakwah & Training Secretariat of Engineering Students’ Society (ENGINIUS IIUM), Kulliyyah of Languages and Management Students’ Society (KLMSS IIUM), Shariah Students’ Secretariat of Law Students’ Society (LAWSOC IIUM), Dakwah & Training Secretariat of Economics & Management Students’ Society (EMSS IIUM), PKPIM IIUM, PEMBINA IIUM Chapter, Harmoni IIUM, Ma’ruf Club IIUM, Jam’iyyatu Khadamatil Quran (JKQ IIUM), Al-Aqsa Friends’ Society IIUM, IIUM Journalism Club, Muhammadiyyah Student Association, Mahallah Asma’ Representative Council, Mahallah Safiyyah Representative Committee, Mahallah Uthman Representative Committee, and Mahallah Zaid Representative Committee gave out a press statement. 

Chairman of IDC, Ahmad Luthfi, expressed feelings of sympathy towards recent Palestinian issues, where the country has lost scores of citizens in the recent conflict with Israel. 

He, on behalf of the IIUM Student Union, acknowledged and justified the resistance movement against Israeli settlers after the solidarity march in the IIUM. 

“The solidarity march perfectly represents the crux objective, we envision a united Muslim community that serves the betterment of the Muslim ummah,” said Luthfi.

On top of that, Luthfi also mentioned that the IIUM Palestinian Solidarity March that was done on the same day as the conference will not be the end of their efforts to cultivate social awareness and inculcate empathy towards the Palestinian, instead it was actually the beginning of the resurrection of the Muslim community in the IIUM.

“We strive to translate our zealous energy to meaningful efforts so as to impact and educate the world,” he added. 

The IDC Chairman also called on all IIUM students to play a part in solidarity by using social media as a weapon to educate the audience on the issues of Palestine. 

He lastly hoped that all Mahallahs in the IIUM should continue performing Qunut Nazillah in all fardhu prayers until the Palestine victory is ensured.***
