Communication Students Raise Awareness on Digital Parenting Through Community-Based Program

AMPANG, 16 December 2025: Communication students from Event and Campaign (COMM 3318), AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS) has successfully organised an event named “Keibubapaan Digital: Bijak Digital, Bina Masa Hadapan” at Sekolah Islam Adni, Taman Sri Ukay on 13 December 2025.

The event was officiated by the Head of Communication Department, Dr Rizalawati Ismail and it was attended by 77 adults and 38 kids.

The program addressed the concerns of digital parenting through a hands-on practical session followed by an interactive forum featuring three speakers and a moderator.

“Organising a program like today is very meaningful. It gives parents, teachers, and children the chance to pause, talk, share their experiences, and look for healthier and more practical ways to face the challenges of the digital world,” said Head of Communication Department, Dr Rizalawati Ismail.

In an interview with IIUMToday, one of the participants, Mrs. Thalia Rohana Abd Latiff shared that, “The panelists here are really good, they give tips not on how to be perfect, but towards perfection. We have to strive for perfection.”

She then continued, “I love this program, Everyone is doing their part, and even in a short amount of time, it’s very interactive.”

This event was conducted as part of Synergized Academic with Student Activity (SAA) and aimed to raise awareness among parents and educators by promoting responsible digital engagement through effective monitoring of children’s online activities.***
