GOMBAK, 11 December 2025: IIUM Angklung Club (IAC) marked a significant milestone this year as they made their first appearance in the first session of 41st IIUM Convocation Ceremony on 6 December 2025 at IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC).
The opportunity came after the club received an invitation from Centre of Arts and Cultural Sustainable Development (CITRA) and a special request from the President of IIUM, Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Hussain.
In an interview with IIUMToday, the President of IAC, Muhammad Ammar bin Mohd Zabidi revealed that they prepared 15 songs for the convocation ceremony and formed the team based on the number of songs required in the performance.
“We were informed during the mid-semester break, and nobody was on campus. So we started our training on 1st December with 15 songs in total,” said Muhammad Ammar.
“Time was our biggest challenge as we also lacked experience in performing such big events like convocation,” continued Muhammad Ammar. Despite these constraints, the team pushed through with intensive training sessions.
For the convocation performance, the teams were guided by the Music Director of Convocation, Cikgu Alfa and additional support from CITRA.
Lastly, their successful first appearance at the 41st IIUM Convocation Ceremony has opened more opportunities and recognition from the IIUM arts community.***
