GOMBAK, 26 December 2024: “GARIIF 2024 has once again proven to be a dynamic platform that celebrates Arabic Islamic heritage, fosters meaningful dialogues, and inspires creativity and collaboration,” said IIUM Deputy Rector of Academic and Internationalisation, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faris Ismail.
The Global Arabic Islamic Annual Festival (GARIIF) 2024 concluded its vibrant week-long run, from 16 to 20 December — with a closing ceremony highlighting all the activities, participation, and objectives achieved at the Main Auditorium of IIUM Gombak.
The closing ceremony began with a du’a recitation by Muhammad Hafiz Bukhari and opening remarks from the Deputy Rector of Academic and Internationalisation IIUM, Prof. Dato Dr. Ahmad Faris Ismail.

In the opening remarks, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Faris mentioned the achievements of this year’s festival, stating, “this year’s festival was marked by remarkable achievements and participations including 79 creative entries for poster competition, 14 video presentations on innovative ideas, six booths representing university, colleges, and Kulliyyahs, three impactful Usrah in Action programs, nine Thaqafatul Ummah booths, 15 sponsorships, and 21 participations from national and international schools for inter-school competitions.”
“These accomplishments reflect collective efforts, passion, and dedication from everyone involved,” said Prof. Dato’ Dr. Faris. He also expressed his gratitude towards the chairperson of GARIIF 2024, Prof. Dr. Rahmah binti Ahmad H. Osman for her leadership and unwavering support.

The closing ceremony was officiated by the Minister Plenipotentiary, Deputy Head of Mission Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman, Mr. Mohamed Najeeb Saleh Ali Al-Bulushi. In his speech, he thanked all the parties involved in realising GARIIF and hoped to foster future collaborations for cultural understanding and inclusivity.


The event continued with prize-giving sessions for the poster competition, the most innovative research award, and the Arabic public speaking competition followed by a special performance by Ahmad Rusydan Ahmad Lukman.
The event concluded with a token of appreciation from IIUM to Mr. Mohamed Najeeb Saleh Ali Al-Bulushi and a photography session with all participants.***
