GOMBAK, 3 October 2024: The Department of Communication, AHAS KIRKHS of the IIUM welcomed 121 first-year communication students for the 2024/2025 academic session during the recent Communication Academic Briefing (CAB).
CAB was held on 3rd October 2024 at the Human Sciences Seminar Room from 9:00 am to 11:10 am. The event, organized by the Communication Students’ Association (COSA), was designed to provide crucial guidance and support to the new intake as they begin their academic journey.
The briefing aimed to help students meet their lecturers, understand the importance of planning their studies, and learn how to stay on track during their four years at the university.
The Head of the Department of Communication, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tengku Siti Aisha Binti Tengku Azzman, officially welcomed the students and encouraged them to make the most of their academic experience.
Academic Advisor and COSA Advisor, Dr. Nur Shakira Mohd Nasir then gave a comprehensive briefing on the new batch of the 231 study plan, outlining how students can effectively plan their studies and the importance of studying the core courses in communication.
The CAB also featured a session by Communication Law and Ethics lecturer, Dr. Nerawi Bin Sedu, who gave a talk on student ethics, highlighting the importance of integrity and professionalism.
Additionally, students were introduced to five societies within the Department of Communication: COSA, IIUMTV, IIUMToday, IPRMSA, and IIUM FM, which provide opportunities for students to gain practical experiences in the media field throughout their academic journey.***
