GOMBAK, 6 December 2023: FIESTALITS 2023 was finally launched to illuminate the whole week with various activities and excitement, starting from from 4 until 7 December 2023 at the Human Sciences (HS) Square and Male Sports Centre (MSC).
The event was successfully officiated by the Head of the Department of English Language and Literature (DELL), Dr. Tanja Jonid, (4 December 2023) at HS Square during the opening ceremony.
Dr Tanja congratulated the Secretariat of English Language and Literature (ELITS) and relevant parties who collaborated to ensure the success of the event, led by Dr. Homam Altabaa as the Programme Advisor.
“FIESTALITS is the creativity of BENL students to bring out the fun of education outside the classroom,” she expressed.

The event was further livened up with a reading session by the award-winning Malaysian poet and writer, Zalina Abdul Aziz, better known as Ninot Aziz, who kick-started the Melodies and Mics session for the week.
Ninot Aziz introduced her soon to be launched book, Dragonlore, which combines 24 stories of dragons written by prominent writers from 10 countries such as Turkiye, German, and Britain and will be soon translated into three languages; Tagalog, Mandarin, and Turkiye.
She shared that it was her initiative to place local folklores on the international map as she believed that our legends resonated with Malaysian civilisation. Her book “Dragonlore” was listed as the only Malaysian published book to be archived on the moon in 2024.
The opening ceremony ended with the presentation of a token of appreciation to the guest speaker, Ninot Aziz, and a photography session.

FIESTALITS 2023 is packed with an exciting schedule throughout the week such as Melodies and Mics, Literary Voyage, ELITS Volleython, Mindcraft Gala, Clairvoyance and The BENL Chronicles booths, educational booths, and vendor stalls.
