GOMBAK, 6 December 2023: “Time management is very important,” said Mas Elina Binti Che Jamil, a certificate recipient in health facility management – batch ministry of health (northern), in an interview with IIUM Today.
Mas Elina was a student from the IIUM Academy of Graduate and Professional Studies and received the Certificate in Healthcare Facility Management. She received her certificate in the ninth session of the 39th IIUM Convocation Ceremony on Wednesday (29 November 2023) at IIUM Gombak.
As a mother, a wife, an employee, and also a student. Mas Elina had to manage her time as best as possible to be able to carry out all her roles. For a year and a half, she had to spend time studying the modules every Saturday, from morning to evening. And she also worked at a hospital from Monday to Friday.
“I only had one day a week to be at home completely,” she said. She is very grateful for the support from her husband who helped her take care of the children while she was working or studying. She also received support from her co-workers who gave her free time to study and complete the courses she was taking at the time.
“My friends who were taking this course together also supported and helped each other, every time there was an obstacle or problem, we will exchange stories and find solutions to the problems,” she said.
Mas Elina faced tiring times when taking the course. In each module (a total of 13 modules that must be studied) there will be an exam that must be passed. However, she was still able to do all and even received an award for her hard work.
She also mentioned in her interview that the most impressive lesson she learned in the course was the sustainability programme which really helped her carry out her work that involved managing healthcare facilities at her hospital. She also mentioned that a very good programme structure had been created by the IIUM through the courses she took.
Mas Elina advised people who worked in hospitals, to take this course because it will be very useful, provides knowledge and good guidance. If they follow the rules taught by lecturers, they will be able to carry out their duties better. And regarding time, there is no need to hesitate because where there is a will, there is a way.
And the last message she wanted to convey was, “Always think positively and make a good schedule. Arrange your schedule between studying and other work. If you have managed your time well, then afterwards Allah will give you the best. Don’t study just to expect grades or awards. Study seriously with good intentions and hope for Allah’s blessing. So, insyaAllah, Allah will provide a way to make our affairs easier.”***
