GOMBAK, 15 October 2023: Educational Festival 2023 (EduFest23) has returned with a new slogan “Where the colours of knowledge unite” with various programmes that are intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically enhancing for the community, starting from 16th October 2023.
Organised by the Bachelor of Education Students’ Association (BEDSA) 22/23, this year’s festival will be different as BEDSA is in collaboration with all KOED student councils as well as with a media partner, Che’gu TV Production.
Among the student bodies are the TESL Students’ Society (TESS) 22/23, Council of Young Arabic Teachers (CYAT) 22/23, Council of Islamic Education Students (CIES) 22/23 and Council of Counseling Students (CCSI) 22/23.
Various programmes under EduFest23 will be conducted as follows:
1. 3C: Collaborate, Communicate and Cooperate
The 3C programme will be held on 16 October 2023 (Monday), from 8.30 pm to 10.30 pm in Lecture Theatre 1 (LT1), KOED. This programme aims to enhance communication skills among IIUM students, develop confidence in public speaking and focus on collaboration skills with a psychology officer speaker, Mohd Norhafifi Zolkiaply.
2. Bazaar Che’gu 8.0
The much awaited bazaar will have vendors from 16th October to 20th October 2023 at Edu Foyer and food trucks from 23rd October to 25th October 2023 at Junction 8. A Japanese themed game competition will also be held during the Bazaar Che’gu. This programme provides a platform for implementing entrepreneurial skills among KOED students.
3. From Sidewalk to Soul: Adab, Akhlaq & Ikhtilat
This programme will be held on 25 October 2023 (Wednesday) with the objectives of nurturing and developing strong moral character in students as well as encouraging students to make ethical decisions. It also highlights the moral and ethical teachings of Islam and inspires students to contribute to a more respectful environment.
4. SPP Interview: Tips and Tricks
With the objective of enhancing interview skills among IIUM students in mastering the interview skills, this programme will be held on 23 October 2023 (Monday) from 8:30 pm – 10:30 pm in Lecture Theatre 1 (LT1). Students will also be exposed to the SPP format by speakers, Cikgu Zainul and Cikgu Naqib.
5. Movie Night
This festival will also have a movie night for the movie “A Silent Voice” on 19th October 2023 (Thursday) from 7:00 pm to 11:30 pm in Lecture Theatre 2 (LT2). This programme focuses on strengthening the bond among KOED communities.
Lastly, there will be the KOED Academic Excellence Award on 18th October 2023 held in the Main Auditorium, at 8.30 am and the closing ceremony on 27th October 2023 at the Experimental Hall, at 8 pm.
