GOMBAK, 19 August 2022: œIt’s now or never to act, said a member of the IIUM Board of Governors, Prof. Dr. Aminuddin Che Ahmad, in his speech in the 11th session of the 37th IIUM Convocation Ceremony to graduands from the Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences (KENMS).Â
He stressed that the wealth in this world is supposed to be shared by all but somehow it is being dominated by the greedy and the corrupt which leads to the rich becoming richer and the poor becoming poorer.
œYou have everything you need to transform the status quo which includes knowledge, skills, strengths and the values which have been internalized throughout your years of tarbiah under the IIUM education system, he said.
He added that while our authorities are preoccupied fighting over vote counts rather than what is left in people’s bank accounts, we continue to battle with a number of economic problems and mismanagement.
œIssues of unemployment, unsustainable development projects, climate change, economic, and social disparity, to name a few, are continuously making headlines and remain unresolved, he said.
Dr. Aminuddin then urged IIUM graduates to become the leaders of the ummah who will need to be intelligent as well as well versed in global affairs in discovering the necessary solutions to the issues of the future.
œLet us tell the world that IIUM graduates are ready to serve mankind, and they should not despair because you are here to make the world a better and more sustainable place bringing rahmatan lil alamin, he said.
He thanked all parents for setting a good example to their children for surely all their hard work and perseverance have inspired them to become as successful as they are today.
œYou are and will continue to be the embodiment of the philosophy and purpose of education that the IIUM has upheld for nearly 40 years, you are the IIUM and the IIUM is you. Let me assure you that we are with you in this never-ending challenge to better this human civilization, he concluded.
