Gombak, 17 August 2022: The 37th IIUM Convocation Ceremony’s 8th session that was held in IIUM (16 August) saw a total of 560 graduands from Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED) and Kulliyyah of information and Computer Technology (KICT) receiving their scrolls.

IIUM Rector, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, congratulated all students and reminded them that their success today was a turning point in their life and for the university.

“Your achievement today indicates the positive development of the Muslim ummah who have been seen in the past few years in a very unhappy situation, poor, and incompetent,” he added.

The Rector emphasised that KAED and KICT are interrelated since the usage of information, communication, and technology in architecture and environmental design is connected, and therefore, the two Kulliyyahs must be linked.

In his remarks, he encouraged the graduates to learn something new that will help them develop their skills and knowledge over time.

“Those who receive their scrolls today will start to practice what they have learned. But you still need to learn other skills at the same time so that you can remain relevant with a strong sense of internationalization,” the Rector said.

He also highlighted that knowledge and action must work together to transform the world because knowledge without action represents wastefulness and action without knowledge represents foolishness.

Before the conferment of the degree, a Member of the IIUM Board of Governors, Ybhg Dato’ Che Nazli Jaapar, took the opportunity to express his gratitude and hope that students will realise how important it is to be knowledgeable and educated.***
