KUALA LUMPUR, 19 May 2022: Grammy Award winner for 11 times, Taylor Swift, received an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from New York University.
“I’d like to thank NYU for making me, technically, on paper at least, a doctor,” Swift said during her commencement address.
Taylor Swift expressed her gratitude through her Instagram account @taylorswift and @taylornation for the awarded Doctorate. The singer did not pursue her tertiary education after high school due to her musical career taking off.
The singer-songwriter took the opportunity in the NYU Class of 2022 to thank her family for the sacrifices made to help her grow from singing in coffeehouses to sold-out stadiums.
Apart from the doctorate, NYU also launched a Taylor Swift course taught by Rolling Stone’s Brittany Spanos which focuses on the “22” singer-songwriter’s evolution in the creative music industry.
Taylor Alison Swift was elated to be awarded the Honorary Doctorate and wishes the rest of the graduates the best in life.***
