GOMBAK, 9 December 2021: Wafa Waleed came out as the winner for the Chairperson seat of Secretariat of Psychology (PSYCSTA) in the AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS) election today defeating Farah Azam.

Both Farah Azam and Wafa Waleed have been campaigning relentlessly for the past week. They were both excellent candidates to carry the responsibility of becoming the Chairperson of PSYCSTA as both candidates’ main aim is to assist and ensure support is given to psychology students.

Farah Azam, a third-year psychology student who currently holds the position for Head of Student Affairs under PSYCSTA hopes to create a dynamic between psychology students regardless of their gender, status and level of study to build an inclusive society.

On the other hand, Wafa Waleed who is currently PSYCSTA’s Head of Spiritualisation and Islamisation wishes to have a change in terms of organisational structure by adding another bureau that manages interning students and also plans to restructure the work culture to enhance the wellbeing of committee members.

Regarding the manifestos of the candidates, both Farah Azam and Wafa aim to ease and bring about betterment to the lives of psychology students while focusing on both internal and external relations.

The mutual aim and similar efforts planned by both PSYCSTA candidates have made it challenging for the students to decide on who to vote for. This is apparent as the results were close with Wafa edging Farah by a margin of only 10%.

Farah Azam congratulated Wafa on her win and wished the best for PSYCSTA during her tenure. She also hoped that Wafa could consider and take a look at her manifestos for the betterment of psychology students.

Both of the candidates conveyed their deepest gratitude to students of Psychology for exercising their responsibility and thanked the election committee in handling the election smoothly. ***
