GOMBAK, 28 November 2019: œHow many IIUM graduates are entering the job market every year? asked Saiful Redza bin Mohamed who is an IIUM career counsellor during opening of the “Career talk: Resume Writing Workshop”, presented by the Secretariat of History and Civilisation.

Throughout the two-hour session held from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm at HS Seminar Room, Saiful shared his experience that many IIUM students are working using their SPM certificate, and not their IIUM bachelor’s degree.

Graduation is a happy moment, moreover graduated students can’t answer where they work. œYou will find culture shock during entering the job market. Can’t think of career development after graduation, he said.

He asked the audience when is the best moment to develop the career. 24 participants had been engaged to answer the question actively.

In his response Saiful answered, œThere is no specific time frame to develop your career, the best time is when you understand the role of your parents. You think that ‘I want to be somebody better than my parents.’

Students realised that they are like zombies only following the pattern of activity and still searching the passionate.

He showed the simple estimation that people will spend about 36 to 37 years working after graduating from university at 23, and retiring at the age of 60.

“Finding a job is so important because it will determine how the wedding ceremony, house, work place satisfaction, and traveling place will be,” he stressed.

In this brief career talk Syaiful also encouraged the audience to remember God stressing, œRegardless how best you are, you still seek from God.” ***
