STADD holds briefing session for upcoming STEWARD’18

GOMBAK, 29 September 2018: Student Affairs and Development Division (STADD) announced the categories of Student Activity Award 2018 (STEWARD 2018) on Wednesday (26 September) morning at a briefing session at MPH SHAS Mosque.

The briefing session was led by Senior Assistance Admin Officer, Wan Zawiyah Wan Ya’cob of Student Affairs and Development Division.

In an interview after the briefing session, Wan Zawiyah told IIUMToday that STADD has conducted this programme since last two years to recognise and appreciate students’ involvement as well as to encourage more students to participate in the co-curricular activities.

This year’s programme is in line with the ANUGERAH TOKOH SISWA which is organised by the Ministry of Education.

“The winner of the awards will be submitted to the Ministry of Education for ANUGERAH TOKOH SISWA at the national level” she added.

In her briefing, Wan Zawiyah said there are a total 20 categories where 18 categories will be contested and category number 19 and 20 will be nominated by KCDIO.

“From category number one to category number 14 it is allocated for the individual contestant and category number 15,16,17 and 18 are assigned for the teams such as Club, MRC, SRC and Society. In addition, there is only one category allocated for International contestant which is number 5 International Student Leader Award.

The Categories are as below:

  1. SRC Leader Award – Open to all former SRC exco Members 17/18 Malaysian
  2. MRC Leader Award – Open to all former MRC Members 17/18 Malaysian
  3. Society Leader Award – Open to all student leaders (Malaysian) of society/ club/ secretariat/ forum/ team
  4. Uniform Body Leader Award – Open to all student leaders (Malaysian) of the uniform body
  5. International Student Leader Award – Open to all International Student Leaders
  6. Entrepreneurship Leader Award – Open to all student leaders (Malaysian) of entrepreneur program
  7. Cultural Programme Leader Award – Open to all student leaders (Malaysian) of the cultural programme
  8. Science, Technology & Innovation Programme Leader Award – Open to all student leaders (Malaysian) of Science, Technology & Innovation Programme
  9. Sport Programme Leader – Open to all student leaders (Malaysian) of sport programme
  10. Public Speaking Programme Award – Open to all student leaders (Malaysian) of the public speaking programme
  11. Intellectual Discourse Programme Leader Award – Open to all student leaders (Malaysian) of intellectual discourse programme, conference e.t.c.
  12. Volunteer Leader Award (Open) – Open to all student leaders (Malaysian) of volunteer (open/general) programme
  13. Volunteer Leader Award (Community Wellness) – Open to all student leaders (Malaysian) of volunteer (Community Wellness) programme
  14. Volunteer Leader Award (Environment) – Open to all student leaders (Malaysian) of volunteer (Environment) programme
  15. Best Voluntary Team – Open to all voluntary teams (Malaysian)
  16. Best Society Award – Open to All Societies/Club
  17. Best MRC Award – Open to all MRC
  18. Outstanding Programme Award – Open to all programmes organised by MRC/Society
  19. Rector Outstanding Award (five awards) – Individual names nominated by KCDIO
  20. President Outstanding Award – Winner of categories number one to 14 is automatically eligible to compete for the President’s Outstanding Award.

There are some General Rules and Regulations that competitors must follow.

  1. Participation is open to all undergraduate students of IIUM.
  2. Evaluation is for achievements and programmes organized throughout the 2017/2018 session (1st September 2017 until 31st August 20 18) only.
  3. Candidates must have the latest CGPA of at least 3.0.
  4. Candidate must submit two (2) organized programmes except for the category of Outstanding Programme Award, Rector Outstanding Award and President Outstanding Award.
  5. The completed form should be verified by the Advisor of Society/ Club or Fellow of Mahallah and recommended by Deputy Dean (Student Affairs)/ Director/ Head/ Principal.
  6. The completed form with all supporting documents must be submitted to-Secretariat -of Student Activity Awards 2017 by 8th October 2018 (Monday).
  7. Incomplete or late submission forms will not be considered.

Rules and Regulations for Rector Outstanding Award:  

  1. Participation is open to all students.
  2. Evaluation is for achievements and programmes organized throughout the 2076/2018 session (1st September 2017 until 31st August 2018) only.
  3. Candidates must have the latest CGPA of at least 3.0.
  4. This Rector Outstanding Award is given to IIUM students who have been internationally recognized. The recipient of this award should win either the first, second or third place in any programmes that have had a high and continuous impact. This award is not being contested in this Student Activity Award (STEWARD) 2018.
  5. This category is nominated by KCDIO only.
  6. The completed form should be verified by Advisor of Society/ Club or Fellow of Mahal fah and recommended by Deputy Dean (Student Affairs)/ Director/ Head/ Principal.
  7. The completed form with all supporting documents must be submitted to the Secretariat of Student Activity Awards 2017 by 81h October 2018 (Monday).
  8. Incomplete or late submission forms will not be considered.
  9. The decision of the Selection Committee is final.

With the theme “Toward Achieving Holistic Student Development” and the objective, “To serve as platform of selection for participants in the ANUGERAH TOKOH SISWA organised by the Ministry of Education, to appreciate the active and committed students/MRC/societies/clubs, and to promote the involvement in co-curricular activity among students”, the Student Activity Award (STEWARD) 2018 will be held on 28 November in MPH, Wadi Budi.
