GOMBAK, 28 July 2017 – The campaign on solidarity towards Al Aqsa Mosque brought huge participation, more than expected. The event which was held in IIUM campus yesterday (28 July) by the Palestinian Students Association (PSA) in collaboration with the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) and the Al Aqsa Friends’ Society went on smoothly.

The issue of closing the entrance to Al Aqsa Mosque by the Israel authorities raised many contradictions and protests. Not just in Palestine but also in many parts of the world, there have been several protests and rallies against the action by Israel.

Despite very few students staying in campus during this short semester, surprisingly many people came out to participate in the rally held in the compound of the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (SHAS) Mosque. Many societies have joined in this campaign and protests.

The president of the Al Aqsa Friends’ Society, Ali Chamani Al Anshory said, “The reason we take part in this campaign is that the Al Aqsa Mosque is not only an obligation by the Palestinians, but it is an obligation that every Muslim in the world must protect and hold.”

“If you (Israel) do something bad to the Palestinian people or even the Al Aqsa Mosque, then you will  have to face with protests from all Muslims around the world,” Ali Chamani said.

“The main objective of this campaign is to unite more people and more Muslims, regardless of their races or countries they come from, and to send awareness message to all Muslims that the Al Aqsa Mosque is still our responsibility to protect,”  he added. ***
