GOMBAK, 30 July 2017: IIUM’s student society, “We Unite for Islam” (WUFI), has sent a memorandum to the Ambassador of the United States of America in Malaysia to express dissatisfaction towards the United States’ inaction on the closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli government.
The memorandum was sent on Thursday (27 July) along side the protest by “Gabungan Mahasiswa Islam Se-Malaysia” (GAMIS).
The President of WUFI, Yazid Khairul Azman said, œThe memorandum condemns US silence on the issue and addresses our concerns towards the closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the killing of three Palestinians in the event.
Yazid added, œThis is a collective move together with all Muslim Students’ Association from universities around Malaysia. We come together as a coalition to protest the act of terror by Zionist Israel.”
According to Yazid, the US is a close partner of Israel and they have the political will to block and veto all support towards Israel through the United Nations.
A day after sending the memorandum, rallies of solidarity were held at the Al-Azhar Mosque in the International Islamic University Selangor (KUIS) in support of the well-being of fellow Muslims in Palestine.
It was to gain awareness and to give information to the masses, and to call upon everyone to support the movement to free the Al-Aqsa.***
