GOMBAK, 25 April 2016: IIUMÂ students and staffs have been exposed to a short period of hazy days beginning on Friday morning, 22 April. The haze continued to appear until Saturday evening and eventually disappeared when it started to rain.
This climate somehow does not affect much on students outdoor activities. They still proceed with activities as usual but with more precautionary steps being taken.
A student from Mahallah Ameenah, Nur Syazwani Darzi, said, œI thought it was a smell of burning things, but when I looked outside my room, I noticed that it was actually the haze. This hot and hazy day is very tiring. I need to drink lots of plain water to perform my daily routine and activities.
According to the Director-General of Meteorological Department, Che Gayah Ismail, who spoke to BERNAMA, the strong impact of El Nino was expected to continue until April and become neutral in Malaysia after June this year. ***
