GOMBAK, 22 November 2024: In an inspiring reflection on hard work and dedication, Siti Aisyah binti Saiful’ Adlee was awarded with the title of Best Student in Bachelor of Science (Applied Chemistry) (Honours) in the ninth session of the 40th IIUM Convocation on 20 November, at IIUM Gombak.
Siti Aisyah expressed her excitement by calling it an incredibly rewarding and humbling experience. ”This award is a reflection of all the hours spent balancing studies with activities, and the unwavering support of my peers, lecturers, and family,” she said.
For Siti Aisyah, passion and perseverance played a crucial role in balancing academic life with extra-curricular activities. One important tip from the best student herself is one should be surrounding oneself with positive influences, such as motivating friends, and actively engaging in activities beyond academics, were also key to her success.
“First, focus on loving what you study,” she added. “Being a book nerd really helped me stay passionate and curious.” Maintaining enthusiasm for her field of study was essential, but it was getting support from the right people like motivating friends and a strong network that helped keep her grounded.
An outstanding aspect of Siti Aisyah’s journey was her involvement with the American Chemical Society, where she served as board member. It allowed her to have valuable leadership skills and opportunities to connect with professionals in her field.
Despite her many successes, the path was not without challenges. She admitted that overthinking and constant self-doubt were significant obstacles, especially when juggling multiple deadlines and exams. However, the support of her friends and family helped her cope with the moments of stress.
Looking ahead, Siti Aisyah offers invaluable advice to others, “Lean on your support system because your family and friends are your greatest strength. Celebrate every step forward, no matter how small, and never compare your progress to anyone else’s. Keep learning, not just about your studies but about yourself, and always prioritize your mental health.”
Every single hard work that had been put in by her has finally paid off in the form of an exciting new opportunity. Siti Aisyah is excited to announce a remarkable new opportunity in which she has been chosen to join a fast-track PhD program with an accompanying research grant. “It’s a dream come true,” she shared.

Siti Aisyah is eager to embark on this next phase, confident that the lessons learned along the way will guide her toward future successes.
