New IRKHSSS President Aims for Inclusivity, Islamization, and Academic Excellence

GOMBAK, 6 January 2025: “Student activism is crucial in order to create a holistic community, and ensure the well-being of our society,” declared Qistina Ali, newly elected president of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences Student’s Society (IRKHSSS) 2024/2025.

Qistina, a candidate from the Department of Political Science, won the poll by securing 1192 votes. The election concluded on 19 December at 6 pm at IRK building level 4.

In an interview with IIUM Today, she explained, “I would like to establish an inclusive and comprehensive society, by upholding the sense of integration, internationalization and islamization, and address concern on the academic excellence and welfare of the students.”

As president, she planned to implement some initiatives to better serve IIUM students, “I’m committed to fostering a supportive academic environment to help students on their examination, creating a digital complaint platform for the students to voice out their concerns, and providing a guideline of Islamization to promote a peaceful environment.”

Sharing her experiences in leadership roles such as Chairperson of Spiritual, Adab and Islamisation Council (SAI), 2023/2024, she is motivated to create a brighter future for AHAS KIRKHS students. “Since I have been involved in various mainboards, I have a lot of ideas that I have planned and would like to implement for the benefit of students.”

She further expressed her feelings for being appointed as the leader of the kulliyyah, “Alhamdulillah, right now I feel like I have a big responsibility to the students, but at the same time I feel excited to serve the students with my partner, Amani and all of the mainboards.”

Finally, she shared her heartfelt gratitude to AHAS KIRKHS students for their support, “To all of my IRKHSS fellow friends, thank you for voting for me. In sha Allah I will uphold the responsibility to fully serve you, for us, for AHAS KIRKHS and for a better future.”
