Project Qaseh educates on the theory and practice of halal slaughtering

GOMBAK, 27 December 2024: The Council of Islamic Education Students (CIES), Kulliyah of Education, IIUM conducted an event on the theory and practice of halal slaughtering named, Project Qaseh at IIUM Gombak on 13 December 2024. It highlighted the importance of carrying out the slaughtering process in accordance with Islamic guidelines, emphasizing precision, efficiency, and adherence to Islamic ritual requirements.

This insightful event was attended by Islamic Affairs Assistant at Masjid Ar-Rahah, Ustaz Muhammad Haziq Bin Rosli who shared valuable insights throughout the event from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. It was divided into two sessions: the first one was theoretical and the subsequent session was practical. It also engaged with the community of Kampung Sungai Pusu as the slaughtered poultry was later given to the villagers who were in need (asnaf).

The participants of the event learned new knowledge that can be adapted, which was they got to know the definition of halal slaughter, the law of slaughter, type of slaughter and slaughter conditions. They also held a question and answer session to find out the level of participants’ understanding of this event in order to be able to determine whether the event had achieved its objective or not where participants were evaluated whethere they had acquired in-depth understanding of the Islamic jurisprudence related to halal slaughtering, including the religious significance, requisite invocations, and the ethical considerations inherent in the process. After completing the theoretical session, the event continued with the practical session where participants tried themselves to slaughter a chicken and apply the theories learned.

This event ended with the distribution of slaughtered chickens to the Sungai Pusu Asnaf community because one of the objectives of the event was to foster a sense of social responsibility and charitable giving in accordance with Islamic values, and ensuring that the aid reaches the intended recipients effectively.***
