706 Postgraduate Graduands Receive Scrolls in Second Session of 40th IIUM Convocation

GOMBAK, 17 November 2024: The second session of the 40th IIUM Convocation Ceremony 2024 took place at IIUM Gombak, today. This session witnessed 706 graduands from selected institutes of the IIUM, namely the IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, International Institute for Halal Research and Training, International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization, and Institute of Planetary Survival for Sustainable Well-Being, who received their master’s degree scrolls.

The session commenced with a speech by the new Rector of the IIUM, Prof. Emeritus Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar, followed by a speech from the President of the IIUM, Tan Sri Samsudin Osman who officiated the conferment of master’s degrees on the graduands.

Additionally, the session witnessed the first graduate from the Institute of Planetary Survival for Sustainable Well-Being (PLANETIIUM) since its rebranding in 2022. PLANETIIUM is formerly known as IIUM Molecular and Cellular Biology Research Cluster (iMoleC), established in 2013, and now focuses on the multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research activities that cover molecular to global approaches to enhance impactful outcomes to benefit the community and industry.

Nineteen graduands were awarded the Best Student awards, that were also presented by the IIUM President. The recipients who received the Best Student Award are as follows:

  • Munira binti Abu Bakar (IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance)
  • Sharika Tasnim (Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design)

  • Ahmad Kamal Effendi Kamarudin (Kulliyyah of Education)
  • Abir Intiaz Mohammad (Kulliyyah of Engineering)
  • Muhammad Nur Arif bin Noor Shamsudin (Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology)
  • Syarifah Zahrah binti Syed Khalid (AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences)
  • Nurul Amal binti Azhar (Kulliyyah of Sustainable Tourism and Contemporary Languages)
  • Izzat Zulhilmi bin Abd Rahman (Kulliyyah of Medicine)
  • Amalia binti Kamaruddin (Kulliyyah of Nursing)
  • Mohammad Adam Al Haqimy bin Mohammad Yunus (Kulliyyah of Pharmacy)
  • Ahmad Nadzimuddin bin Nazmi (Kulliyyah of Science)
  • Fatin Nabilah binti Jamal (Kulliyyah of Allied Health Sciences)
  • Nur Armidha Nadihah binti Amir Sabri (Kulliyyah of Dentistry)
  • Wan Izni binti Wan Ismail (International Institute for Halal Research and Training)
  • Abdul Khaliq Choopan (International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization)
  • Nurul Najwa binti Wahbi (Harun M. Hashim Law Centre)
  • Zaireen Sofea binti Mohd Zulkifli (Graduate School of Management)

The valedictorian speech was then delivered by Nurul Najwa binti Wahbi, the representative of the graduates.

The session ended at 11.30 a.m. with Tan Sri Samsudin, proclaiming the graduates as the official alumni of the IIUM.***
