A fresh chapter of growth and excellence at the IIUM – President

GOMBAK, 17 December 2024: A fresh chapter of growth and excellence has begun at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) as the university’s president, Tan Sri Samsudin Osman welcomed the appointment of a new Rector, expressing confidence in his guidance to continue IIUM’s mission and describing it as ‘a fresh and promising chapter.’

The president expressed his confidence in the IIUM’s continued dedication to its core mission under the new leadership. He highlighted the university’s commitment to nurturing Khalifah, leaders and stewards equipped not only with academic knowledge but also with strong ethical values to serve the society with purpose and compassion.

Tan Sri Samsudin reflected on the IIUM’s unique role in education, rooted in its mission to integrate Islamic values with modern demands, creating a unique model of education that serves both the Muslim community and the world through knowledge and innovation. 

Turning his attention to the graduates, the president delivered a heartfelt congratulation, acknowledging their journey of growth and resilience. He emphasized their role as agents of positive change, confident that they are prepared to uphold the IIUM’s values of mercy, justice, and compassion in their future endeavors.

Tan Sri Samsudin also extended heartfelt congratulations to Her Royal Highness the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Binti Almarhum Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj on receiving an Honorary Doctorate in Creative Arts at the recent 100th UiTM Convocation. He praised Her Royal Highness’ dedication to the arts, noting that her achievements serve as a powerful inspiration to students, staff, and the alumni of the IIUM.

The president also extended his gratitude to the families and supporters of the graduates, acknowledging their sacrifices as integral to this milestone. He urged graduates to embrace their responsibility as ambassadors of IIUM’s ideals, carrying their knowledge and ethics into the world.
