GOMBAK, 28 May 2024: Final year Communication students created the educational program, Human vs AI. It was a part of the bigger event, Unleashing Potential: Empowering Students in the Digital Age, on 28 May, at the Human Sciences Speech lab & Human Sciences Square from 10.00am to 5.00pm.
The objective of the program was to raise awareness about cybersecurity among students by warning them of cyber threats and the importance of cybersecurity.
By having artificial Intelligence and the critical role of human creativity, students can solve this problem related to phishing and hijacking.
Due to these issues, Malaysia had lost over RM5.2 billion because of scams taking place from 2020 until 2022, according the video that was played in the Human Sciences speech lab. It showed that scammers will keep on taking advantage of people’s increasing dependence on technology.
In the event participants were provided with three case studies that were related to cybersecurity problems. Participants needed to solve the case in one minute and 45 seconds, after completing the case studies, the students will receive their results based on their performance by scanning a QR code.
There were two QR codes which indicated the answer, one of them was a purple QR code which indicated success, while the blue QR code showed that the participants needed improving.
Based on this game the participants learnt different types of scams which will allow them to gain a deeper understanding of how these scams work and how to identify and avoid them.
“AI can be a powerful ally, it can be a dangerous foe if not handled properly,” said Amirah Maisarah from the Prep Tech committee.
By fostering awareness of cybersecurity threats and using critical thinking we hope in the future students will accept that there are a lot of cyber dangers and we must remain alert at all times.
This approach to cybersecurity education ensures that students are equipped to defend themselves in an increasingly digital environment.***
