IIUM Achieves Six-Star Rating for Employer’s Choice of University and #1 UniRank Islamic University Ranking

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 April 2025: The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) was awarded a prestigious six-star rating in the 2025 Employers’ Choice of University list by Talentbank Graduate Employability (GE) Index. The recognition highlights the university’s excellence in producing highly sought-after graduates and reaffirms its standing as one of Malaysia’s top institutions for academic and industry relevance.

In addition to this remarkable achievement, IIUM earned six-star ratings across nine academic programs, which include Economics, Finance, Hospitality Management, Law, Nursing, Pharmacy, Psychology, Quantity Surveying, and Tourism. This endorsement reflects the confidence and positive perception of employers nationwide towards IIUM graduates in these fields.

The recognition was officially announced during Talentbank’s unveiling of the Employers’ Choice of University list at EQ Kuala Lumpur, attended by Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, who emphasized the government’s commitment to bridging higher education with industry demands. The rankings were derived from Talentbank’s National Graduate Employability Index, which evaluates universities based on recruitment activity, graduate hiring statistics, and employers’ repeat hiring patterns.

Meanwhile, IIUM was also ranked #1 in the 2024 UniRank category for World’s Best Islamic Universities, an advancement from its previous position at #2 in 2023. This achievement was announced recently via UniRank’s official platform, highlighting the university’s outstanding commitment to high-quality education and its role in producing competitive graduates in various fields globally.

UniRank’s rankings are based on stringent criteria, including accreditation by national regulatory bodies, the provision of traditional on-campus learning programs, and the offering of degrees at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The recognition underscores the continued dedication of IIUM and other Islamic universities globally in maintaining exceptional standards of education and relevance to industry demands.

During the IIUM Shawwal Gathering 2025 at the IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC), the Rector of IIUM, Prof. Emeritus Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar, in his speech, expressed heartfelt gratitude to IIUM’s previous leadership, management, staff, and academia for their contributions leading to the university’s ongoing success.
