AHAS KIRKHS celebrates 14 award winners at Convocation Award Ceremony 2023

GOMBAK, 1 December 2023: In conjunction with the 39th IIUM Convocation Ceremony, the annual AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS) Convocation Award Ceremony honoured the accomplishments of 14 graduates from AHAS KIRKHS, each receiving a unique award on Wednesday (29 November 2023), at the Banquet Hall of IIUM Gombak.

The award ceremony was attended by guest of honour, Secretary-General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, His Excellency Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Koutoub Mustafa Sano who had recently received the emeritus professor title from the IIUM.

The Dean of AHAS KIRKHS, Prof. Dr Shukran Abd Rahman, congratulated all award recipients and wished them all the best in their future careers and academic endeavours. He also encouraged the graduates to continue their journey in academia as well.

“We expect you to return to the IIUM to do research with us either as a student or a researcher from your organisation later on,” he added.

In a speech by Best Student (Overall) Award winner, Nur Hadirah Hanim binti Abu Bakar, expressed her gratitude to her family members for the support that they had given her, especially during online classes. As dua’ is the weapon of the believers, she emphasised how her family and friends who made dua’ for her were one of the reasons that helped her succeed.

Nur Hadirah’s father was also invited to give a speech at the ceremony in which he expressed his gratitude to Allah for his daughter’s success.

The event followed by the recipients receiving the Kulliyyah and department level awards as follows:

Kulliyyah Best Student Award winners:

  2. Best Student (Academic): Hafizah binti Mohd Rusli
  3. Best Student (Co-Curricular): Wan Nabihah binti Wan Abdul Razak

  1. Best Student (Sibawayh Award) in Arabic Language and Literature: Abdul Hakim bin Marosadee Pataepannang @ Mohd Salleh
  2. Best Student (Muhammad Iqbal Award) in English Language and Literature: Sadia Shameem
  3. Best Student (Hamka Award) in Communication: Ainina binti Hasnul Jamal
  4. Best Student (Ibn Al-Athir Award) in History and Civilization: Muhamad Harith Naim bin Ishak
  5. Best Student (Al-Mawardi Award) in Political Science: Muhammad Izzuddin bin Abdul Samad
  6. Best Student (Al-Razi Award) in Psychology: Aisyah Mursyidah binti Ugi Suharto
  7. Best Student (Ibnu Khaldun Award) in Sociology and Anthropology: Nuruljannah binti Che Muret
  8. Best Student (Al-Shafi’i Award) in Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh: Ahmad Norhaiqal bin Rosli
  9. Best Student (Al-Tabari Award) in Qur’an and Sunnah Studies: Siti Masitah Mohamad Maarof
  10. Best Student (Al-Ghazali Award) in Usul al-Din and Comparative Religion: Amna Yaqoob
  11. Best Student (Al-Qaradawi Award) in Halal Industry Management: Salman Hilmi bin Amir Husni

The award ceremony ended with a speech by His Excellency Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Koutoub, in which he emphasised being grateful to Allah, to one’s parents, to the country and the IIUM is important. “When you are thankful and grateful to Allah SWT, Allah will give you more,” he said in his speech.***
