“It’s not enough to simply seek change,” says Nur Natasha Azeze

GOMBAK, 14 December 2022: Nur Natasha Azeze, a third-year Psychology student, running for the Secretariat of Psychology (PSYCTA) Chairperson seat of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences Students Society (IRKSSS) Election 2022 said it is not enough to simply seek change.

In an interview with IIUMToday, Natasha has been actively involved in students’ volunteerism since high school and continued the spirit in IIUM.

In her degree years, she started joining a few clubs and society as well as being one of the Mahallah Representative Committees.

Later, she joined the Secretariat of Psychology in the Board of Director as the Head of Spiritual Islamization and Community Engagement.

œI also joined the Academic and Intellectual Council in AHAS KIRKHS, Natasha said.

The manifestos Natasha has focused on is to enhance students’ academic understanding. œI believe that a lot of psychology students have struggled and experienced killer subjects.

Natasha planned to invite experts or alumni to be a guest lecturer to share tips and tricks and help students to view certain subjects to be easy.

œMy second manifesto is to broaden students’ exposure towards the applied field of psychology. She explained to expose student to various fields and widen their horizon on the job prospect in the future.

She further planned to arrange a visit to organisations or companies that relate to the field of psychology and to organise a programme that can enhance students skills.

Lastly, Natasha aimed to enhance students’ holistic growth which includes inclusion and islamization. œFor islamization, I plan to engage with international universities with expertise on Islamic Psychology to open more opportunity for intellectual discourse, Natasha added.

Further to this, she hoped to instill the sense of belongingness among psychology students.

Natasha who run for the election to improve the secretariat, especially for the psychology students, said, œSomehow it gives me a sense of responsibility to be part of the change maker.

Natasha defined a good leader as someone who listens to the student voices, ready to serve, and willing to fulfill the amanah.

She ended with a message, “We need to take action by casting our vote”.***
