GOMBAK 14 December 2022: “I know what to expect and I am ready to help,” said Runa or Nurul Husna binti Mohd Khairul from the Department of Psychology who is one of the two candidates running for the presidential seat in the Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences Student Society (IRKHSSS) Election 2022.

Runa, a second-year student, mentioned that since she held a position in Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences Student Society (IRKHSSS), she knows the problems that may arise as well as how to deal with them.

She shared her past leadership which included Vice President for Foundation Centre Human Sciences Society (Fochuss 20/21), Head Bureau of Welfare for Persatuan Kebangsaan Pelajar Islam Malaysia (PKPIM) Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) IIUM and Sub-committee for Student Affairs and Welfare Council (STAFFWELL) in IRKHSSS.

In an interview in IIUMToday, she shared that her vision is to empower the student’s legacy towards new horizons and expand IRKHSSS to its former glory and is confident in running for a presidential seat.

“I am confident because I have support from the current tenure so it’s easy for me to refer to them for help and they also motivate me to contest in this election”.

Her manifestos are:

  1. To enhance the academic and welfare services for all AHAS KIRKHS students through centralised utilities in collaborations with the secretariats.
  2. To accommodate and expand the opportunities for AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS) graduates by nurturing industry readiness and highlighting diverse career paths.
  3. To foster the essence of unity among the diverse AHAS KIRKHS community.

“As the student society, we should provide services and make things easier for the secretariats and encourage them to conduct programmes for the students,” Runa said in her first manifesto.

In her second manifesto, she planned to conduct workshops on industry readiness, community engagement, and volunteerism to nurture students’ skills to communicate with people for their future career.

Runa further elaborated in her third manisfesto on forming an International Affairs Council so that international students can join programmes as well as organise them to promote inclusivity and conduct a culture fest.

She shared that a good leader is close to their people and should maintain a good relationship so that they can help students to solve their problems and connect the students to the Kulliyyah.

She agreed that students should put as much thought into this election as they did for the recent general election because choosing leader is important. “I believe in you,” Runa concluded. ***
