Flash floods hit Kuala Lumpur after downpour

KUALA LUMPUR, 1 December 2022: Following heavy rain, several roads in Kuala Lumpur have been affected with flash floods yesterday (30 November).

The command and control center of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) posted images of the flash floods damaging the roadways mainly in Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Bangsar, Jalan Raja Chulan, and Jalan Maharajalela on Twitter.

Other routes like Jalan Dang Wangi and Jalan Damansara were also disrupted, according to tweets from the internet users.

In the meantime, the irrigation and drainage department warned that three rivers in Selangor have experienced rising water levels.

Sungai Langat recorded a water level of 3.41 metres, while Sungai Bernam read 27.12 metres, exceeding the danger level.

Meanwhile, Sungai Selangor at Jalan Rantau Panjang also went above the alert level with a reading of 6.88m.***
