Dentistry graduate, Nur Aqilah, accorded with Best Student Award at 40th IIUM Convocation and cash award from Yayasan Pahang

GOMBAK, 21 November 2024: Nur Aqilah binti Mohd Aris, a dedicated dentistry student, was accorded with the Best Student Award (Academic) in the sixth session of the 40th IIUM Convocation Ceremony on 19 November, at IIUM Gombak.

She had put in a lot of hard work and commitment to achieve academic excellence in her five-year study. Along with the prestigious award, she also received a generous cash award from Yayasan Pahang, further acknowledging her outstanding achievement.

Expressing her deep gratitude, Nur Aqilah shared, “I am deeply grateful for the recognition and support from Yayasan Pahang as I didn’t get this opportunity before. I will receive RM1,500 for my achievement.” The cash award from Yayasan Pahang highlights the foundation’s commitment to supporting high achieving students and encouraging academic success for those born in the state of Pahang or anak Pahang.

As a top student, Nur Aqilah also generously shared some of her personal study tips that helped her to succeed. She emphasized that in the first two years of pre-clinical studies, one of her key strategies was to always ask questions in lectures. “Never hesitate to ask the lecturer as the lecturer knows best,” she said. She also highlighted the importance of having a supportive study group.

Not only that, in the following three years as she entered the clinical phase of her study, Nur Aqilah focused on discussing patient management and scheduling with her peers. “The clinical phase years are all about dealing with real patients, and we help on each other by sharing management strategies and schedule to meet course requirements,” she explained. “However most importantly seek guidance and advice from lecturers to improve,” she added.
