Movie Review: The Winter Soldier

Can Hollywood Make A Better Sequel?

By Shawal Ras

Scott Rogers, or better known to the world as Captain America (played by Chris Evans) is back in the silver screen and this time, he is determined to fight his then-best-friend-now-arch-nemesis, the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). While struggling to keep up with the social norm of the modern society, Rogers, with the help of Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) become entangled in a mystery that may endanger the globe.

The Good: I have to say, The Winter Soldier is far off a better film than the first instalment, The First Avenger. This film packs with better storyline, witty scripts, eargasmic sound effects, superior fighting sequences and out of this world special effects. Plus, Johansson and Evans make up its beautiful ensemble of actors.

The Bad: Despite the better storyline than the first, this film is still uninspiring and watching it is pretty much similar to a rollercoaster ride. Some scenes are a feast to the eyes, but some are downright snooze fest!

The Verdict: If you’re looking for an action film with awesome effects, then you should watch this at the cinema near you (say no to piracy, folks!). There’s no need to put a high expectation for this one, but make sure you’re fully equipped since no one wants to entertain your curiosity in the cinema.
