GOMBAK, 27 May 2022: The candidate for the Office of Entrepreneur and Corporate Relations in the IIUM Student Union (IIUMSU) 2022 election, Muhammad Taufik bin Zulkafli has unfolded his manifesto that is inspired from seeing the student’s spirit to increase their side income.

The first year second semester student, from Malay Language for International Communication (MLCOM) explained that he wants to use his platform to bring the voice of the students to the higher management level.

Taufik has been involved in the leadership niche since he was 10 years old, and he emphasises that he wants to build the spirit of leadership as he truly upholds the values of influencing people rather than being the authoriser of the position.

He stated this while explaining his mission and vision, which emphasises the process of how a leader should act as well as putting words and promises into actions.

Taufik’s participation in the IIUM Student Union election was made possible by the former Deputy President III’s unwavering support and encouragement.

Two aspects of Manifesto that Taufik offers:

Manage the imbalance accountability of the students’ well-being

There are many students in Pagoh who run a business to supplement their income by acting as agents and dropshippers. However, they are simply expanding their business in the same circle that is in the Mahallah compound.

Taufik wishes to open channels for them and bring together all of the other students from UTHM, Politeknik, and UTM. The students will be able not only to expand their businesses, but they can also connect with one another in terms of collaboration in such entrepreneurship programmes, getting a connection with Bank Rakyat for example to get sponsorship, and so on. As a result, the connection between students, universities, and other parties can be used to bring all of the students together.

Use the office as a conduit for university societies to express their concerns to upper management.

The concern is to channel the students’ problems to the upper management so that all issues can be resolved and not left hanging during the management phase.

Taufik assures that the manifestos are far more than words because it is the responsibility of the people in union to carry out the mandate given by the people.

He went on to say that winning uncontested does not imply that his performance will be subpar. “Because for me, the responsibility that needs to be carried out is the most important thing that needs to be considered, especially how to make all the promises in the manifesto become real and champion all the students’ voices to the high management,” he said.

Muhammad Taufik extends his congratulations to all candidates running in the election. He concluded the interview by saying, “I just hope that you guys are aware of the existence of the IIUM Student Union and understand how this organisation works as the goal is to bring out all of the students’ concerns and champion our voices.” He also urged all students to vote on Election Day, May 28, 2022.***
