KUALA LUMPUR, 27 May 2022:  International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Kuala Lumpur is organising the Young Humanitarian Journalists Competition 2022 in collaboration with the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

With the support of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS), the competition has two themes, which are “Humanitarian Action in Malaysia and Beyond: Lessons From The Past and Emerging Challenges” and “International Humanitarian Law: Alleviating Human Suffering”.

The competition aims to raise awareness of the impact of media reporting on humanitarian issues, as well as to encourage young people to actively seek story angles that can benefit their community and country.

The competition is open to anyone aged between 18 and 30 years old in Malaysia and also Malaysians residing abroad, which requires the participants to submit their entries either in the essay or video format.

Each entry in both categories can be in Malay or English and MUST address one of the themes. The winners will stand a chance of winning cash prizes up to RM1,000 for each category!
