The candidate, who is a student of Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED), builds his manifesto around the principle, “by the students, for the students” incorporating three elements: Social Media as Digital Marketplace, First Class Crisis Management, Neck to Neck Representation.
On Social Media as Digital Marketplace, he said, “We have many talented students in IIUM and I believe we can help students generate their own income” he says as he acknowledges how much students rely on scholarship and sponsors to sustain their expenses.
On First Class Crisis Management, “I will offer direct two-way communication between students and IIUM officers related to the crisis” which can be done through a series of town-hall meetings to resolve recurring issues like wi-fi and visa issues.
Meanwhile on Neck to Neck Representation, “I believe formality will become a barrier for communication between IIUMSU officers and students”, as he explained how neck to neck communication would reduce formality through a bottom-up approach.
On good leadership, he said, he or she must be someone who has empathy, keeps a healthy environment, considerate and approachable saying, “let me come to you instead of you coming to me”.
Zaim also said that “the student union shouldn’t only focus on the students but also the community” as he believed eventually students would contribute to the community.
“I want the students to think of the manifesto I have to offer and all the benefits it can give them,” Zaim concluded. ***
