GOMBAK, 17 March 2022: Best Student in co-curricular from Kulliyyah of Sciences in Plant Science, Siti Zubaidah Binti Adnan, shared the importance of enjoying co-curricular activities while studying.

Siti Zubaidah received the award at the 12th session of the 36th Convocation at ICC Hall yesterday for her contributions and participation in Facilitator Team IIUM Kuantan (FACITEAM), a society primarily about volunteerism and assisting others through various school programmes and training.

Siti Zubaidah or Zu as known to her university friends, added that her interest in meeting new people, and exploring new places were the main reason she involved herself in many co-curricular activities.

She also stated that being involved with new people enabled her to make more friends and acquaintances.

“When I meet new people, I can see their perspective of life, how they think, and from that, I learn a lot about society,” she said.

Asked about how she managed her study and co-curricular activities, Siti Zubaidah stressed on balancing study life.

“I get bored if I only study, hence, I go outside, and meet new people. Doing what I love helps me back in my study,” Siti Zubaidah told IIUMToday.

Furthermore, she said having a proper study schedule helped her manage study life and co-curriculum activities. She mentioned how effective her schedule is in her daily life as it helped to boost productivity and recognise what she can reasonably do with her time.

Plant Science courses have always been her favourite to study. She said that these courses make her close to nature and open every opportunity to explore since she often goes out on field trips to other institutions for exchanging ideas.

At the end of the interview, she expressed her concern about learning due to COVID-19 situation. She hoped that students who felt hard in this situation will never lose hope and get to explore around given the opportunity.

Moreover, she advised students to join every programme that will enrich their knowledge and soft skills. “Do not be afraid of being alone doing things; just try your best to see the opportunity you could gain.”

As for now, she commits herself to the Nano Life Quest Sdn Bhd, known as Malaysian leading scientific product distribution organisation, apart from still being active with her favourite activities such as hiking. ***
