GOMBAK, 16 March 2022 – Puteri Mariam Diana binti Ahmad Mosadik, Best Student Academic from AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS), called on the audience to be motivated, positive, optimist, and have faith in Allah even during the pandemic.

Delivering her valedictorian speech at the 9th session of IIUM 36th Convocation Ceremony this (Wednesday) morning, she said life is a real struggle as COVID-19 undeniably greet the world dominating all areas with stress, anxiety, fear, and overthinking.

She believed that people can break this pattern as we are increasingly aware of the importance of fitness activity and the university is levelling up its effort to build a fitness culture in the midst of the virus.

She said she is proud that people have realised that exercise is not about losing weight but it is about feeling more energetic and feeling less stressed.

œThe energy, the motivation, and the feeling that we want right now are all waiting at the end of our workout. Remember actions create motivations, she highlighted.

Puteri Mariam Diana said she was blessed to have been granted with such a positive environment, when her close family member, who is her mother, had been tested positive and had an accident during quarantine.

œHowever, I have so much belief in the power of words, our mind will listen to everything we say and it would decide what is going on with the word we use daily.

œIf I say, ˜I cannot survive, I cannot cope then my mind really believes that Im losing it, she said.

She mentioned that by turning those thoughts into positive words, those words are not just words as they became a powerful command to the subconscious mind into the soul.

She also quoted the Malay proverb ˜hendak seribu daya, tak hendak seribu dalih,  when she talked about her coursemate who sold burgers to bear the cost of his study.

Puteri Mariam Diana told the audience how she was amazed at his words when she said that she believes that rizq still flows in the end.

œIIUM graduates are optimists, an optimist can understand that life can be a bumpy road but at least that leads to somewhere.

œIt’s hard for me to say that they are not a fighter. Life throws us with COVID-19, but we never surrender, she further expressed.

œWith the promise of Allah, nothing can break us, she said before ending her speech. ***
