405 graduate on the second year anniversary of MCO announcement

GOMBAK, 16 March 2022: All the hard work, and trials and tribulations faced by 405 students during their studies at IIUM culminated today at the 10th session of the 36th Convocation Ceremony held at ICC Hall. 

The day’s second session celebrated 165 and 240 graduands from the Department of English and Literature (BENL) and the Department of Psychology of AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS) respectively.

IIUM Rector, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak said in his speech that the presence of graduands is a symbol of how much they have thrived while facing harsh realities and uncertainties during an unprecedented time. 

He said that the session commemorated today was especially meaningful as it falls on the second year anniversary of the first movement control order (MCO) implemented by the Malaysian government during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

In this session, Nurulain Nadhirah binti Abdul Muen from the AHAS KIRKHS’s Department of Psychology received the Budi Award which is the Kulliyyah level award.

The graduands received their scrolls from Datuk Mahmoud Hussien Saeed Qattan, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Malaysia who is a member of IIUM Board of Governors.***
