GOMBAK, 15 March 2022: Najihah Hakimah Binti Abdullah from Kulliyyah of Engineering, who received Best Student award in co-curricular at the 6th session of 36th IIUM Convocation Ceremony yesterday (14 March), considered her strong family support system as the major reason she was able to be an achiever.
Born as a middle child of five siblings, Najihah said both her elder sisters are also furthering their studies at the university.
She said: œMy oldest sister is from IIUM while the second one is pursuing her education at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), and both of them are good in their studies. Hence, they make me believe that I could also do better in my studies.
œI also have my husband, who is always there for me during my ups and downs. Thankfully, he is also studying in the engineering field so he always helps me academically. When I do not understand certain things, he will guide me, shared Najihah, who has been married since 2020.
Besides highlighting the importance of the support system, Najihah also emphasised on the significance of seeking the pleasure of Allah during studying.
œI believe that redha from Allah is the most important thing, that is why I dare not cheat during exam or plagiarise any of my friends work or quiz answers. I believe it is not a good thing to do, she added.
Working in the field of cyber security, Najihah said she plans to have a stable career first before continuing her study.
The Civil Engineering graduate said that she felt excited upon receiving the award, and always aspired to win it but had doubts whether she could achieve that honour.
œWinning the award has been on my bucket list, however there is high competition especially at the university level, but Alhamdulillah I managed to get the award, Najihah told IIUMToday.
Further sharing on her future plan, Najiha elaborated that she intends to pursue her masters in her current field to learn and explore more about the new field that she finds interesting.***
