The programme held last Wednesday and Thursday (2 and 3 March) was divided into three slots each of which had its objective to be achieved.

The first slot, œMass Gathering and Academic Briefing, conducted on 2 March from 11:00 am to 12:30 p.m., involved not only the newly intake students but also other History students. It consisted of Academic, Internship and Final Year Project (FYP) briefing by the department’s lecturers.

In the session, Dr. Olsi Jazexhiu delivered important information to first-year students where he suggested for history students not to take courses higher than their level of study to help them achieve good grade and pointer.

Other than academic matters, Olsi also advised the students to consult the department’s academic advisor and their Murabbi for any problem or issue they face.

œWe always advice you to maintain good CGPA and try to get more than 3.00 for each course and you can always refer to your academic advisor or Murabbi with whom you can ask questions when youre not sure with courses you take and other academic matters, Olsi said.

The œSession with Alumni was the second slot conducted on 3 March from 10:00 a.m to 11:30 a.m, where it was attended bu the alumni of the History department. They were Mas Amirul Bin Maswira and Fikri Bin Johari who recently graduated in 2021 & 2022. This session was intended for the alumni to share their experience as history students.

The main advice by these alumni was on how to be focused in class where they suggested for students to find study partners or study groups to share all the notes taken during the class as it could help those who missed important input from the lecture that might not be available in the lecturer’s slide.

In addition, students were advised to establish good relationship with their lecturers.

“A good relationship with lecturers will make it easier for the student to have consultation especially when they are in final year and finishing their Final Year Project (FYP),” the new students were told.***
